Sunday morning we woke up to Rogan crying at 6:30 a.m. This is very unusual for him, as he is normally an excellent sleeper. Chris got him and put him into bed with us. When I kissed his cheek and felt how hot and bumpy it was, we turned on the lights and were greeted by this poor little guy. I then realized what was going on. He had not gotten too much sun yesterday as I had thought, and it was a very good thing that I did not continue to slather him with sunscreen. You see, When I was eighteen I started to have this very same problem, but it took me many painful summers to figure out what was actually causing the outbreak. Sunscreen. He had this rash every where that it was applied, and what looks in the photo to be a bad sunburn is actually a painful allergic reaction.
We found a drug store and bought some Benadryl, which seemed to make him feel a lot better. Luckily it was a very rainy day and he had no need of the awful stuff for the rest of the trip:). Now that we knew what made the red man red, it was off to breakfast and the Tennessee Aquarium. If you have never been, it is huge. The aquarium is actually made of to buildings, each with their own experience. We started out with the "ocean" building where we got to go into a butterfly house, feed and pet stingrays, and a lot more. The penguin exhibit was one of their favorites. Can you find them in this picture?
Ameryn clowning around with a scuba diver. Now on to the "fresh water" building. If you ever have a chance you should definitely visit the Tennessee Aquarium for yourself. But as you can see, I find my kids to be much more interesting than the exhibits:)
